President’s Column
By Paul Olsen
How exciting, and sometimes tiring, to be living in one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in the City! There is so much going on all the time, and so many wonderful people to interact with, that there is no possible way to be bored.
This month is no exception. The Transportation and Planning committee has already completed 2 of their 6 scheduled meetings regarding the UC Extension site, with the 3rd meeting in the series on Monday, May 23rd. The meetings have been well attended, and many interesting ideas have been expressed. Minutes from the meetings are available on our Web site, www.hayesvalleysf.org. There is also an excellent article with many details on page 4 of The Voice.
Our regular monthly meeting on May 26th will focus on transportation in the neighborhood, as Muni has proposed service cuts which will affect both Haight and Hayes Street lines. We have invited speakers from Muni and Rescue Muni to join Jeremy Nelson from Transportation for Livable Cities and Casey Mills from Coalition for Transit Justice.
There will also be more available information about World Environment Day events. This is a great opportunity to showcase our neighborhood, our accomplishments and values not only to other people in San Francisco, but to those from around the world. Please see the front-page article on these events, and come to the meeting for more details about how you can participate.
See you ’round the ’hood.
