Renew Your HVNA Membership Today...
And See the Rewards Tomorrow.
The 2005-2006 HVNA Membership year begins this month. Membership to HVNA is perhaps one of the best “bang for the buck” quality of life investments you can make. Tackling short and long-term quality of life issues impacting our neighborhood, the HVNA has made significant improvements in public safety, neighborhood beautification, and neighborhood planning.
REACH OUT! Ninety-five percent of your membership dues pay for costs associated with printing and distributing the Hayes Valley Voice. With a distribution of over 3,000 households, the Voice is our most effective method of alerting Hayes Valley residents to important issues and events relevant to the neighborhood. By renewing your membership we can continue this great service to the neighborhood. With new memberships, we can increase the scope and frequency of neighborhood forums and events, providing greater opportunity for neighbors to connect around important issues.
DON’T BE PASSIVE! Remember, your awareness and involvement in our neighborhood association increases our political capital in local politics, allowing us greater influence in shaping our neighborhood. Rather than reacting to outside forces of change, the HVNA has an excellent history of conceiving and delivering neighborhood vision.
JOIN! PARTICIPATE! AND BUILD A STRONGER COMMUNITY! There are many ways to express your membership: attend the monthly general meetings and vote, study an issue important to you and bring your valuable knowledge to the community, join the Board or one of the HVNA Committees.
2005-2006 Look Ahead (current and continuing neighborhood issues):
- development of the former freeway parcels
- development of the former UC Extension Campus
- training and assistance in developing an effective model for Neighborhood Safety
- traffic calming associated with Octavia Boulevard
- park improvement and park maintenance
- participation in the public approval process for several mixed-use projects
The HVNA membership year begins in September and ends in August. Annual membership dues are gratefully accepted anytime during the membership year but payment of dues during the fall will assist the HVNA in budget planning.
