November Meeting

Prepare Streets, Food, or Prepare for Emergencies?

With all the bad news from around the world, one natural disaster after another, don’t you worry about how to be prepared for an emergency? Well, civic leaders are worried, and HVNA, along with Supervisor Mirkarimi and the mayor’s office, will present information about how to be prepared for a crisis at our November meeting.

Speaking of being prepared, CalTrans and the City spent years planning and constructing the new freeway off-ramp and Octavia Blvd. The Central Freeway Citizens Advisory Committee has requested feedback from the neighborhood as well as from those traveling through it. At the November meeting they will update us on issues and proposed solutions. We will also vote on whether to support the repeal of the tow-away zone on Oak Street.

With all of the discussions about the UC Extension development, it is important that everyone be aware of the plan of action regarding the latest proposal. There will be a brief presentation of our strategy at the meeting.

Last, but certainly not least, please bring a dish to the meeting to share with your neighbors. A portion of the meeting will be set aside for a potluck holiday celebration! Let’s kick off the season by celebrating together the wonderful sense of community we share. HVNA will provide honey baked ham. Do you have a favorite dish you’d like to share? If so, bring it. If not, bring yourself and share a good time with your neighbors.
