Discount Tix for Arts Festival
The San Francisco International Arts Festival will be performing through the end of May at several locations including our own African American Arts and Cultural Center on Fulton Street. Because of the participation of HVNA in Community Partners United, we have been provided with a discount code that gives 20% off the ticket price. All of the many performances are listed on their website: http://sfiaf.org/2007/calendar.html If you are interested in ordering discount tickets, please call the box office at 439-2456 and say you are an “SFIAF affiliate” and use code 038-BS07. (There will be a handling charge per ticket.). A flyer for the festival is also available here.
Earn free tickets to events by volunteering! They need people to usher, work the concession stand and take tickets. Contact John at john@sfiaf.org for more information.
The shows will be amazing and we hope you’ll able to attend!
Page Street Gardeners in the Sun
A hidden gem in our neighborhood, the Page Street Garden brings together neighbors for good times and good stories. Neighbors work together to keep the garden looking good, and also have individual plots to raise their own flowers or vegetables. For more information, contact garden coordinators Michael McCauley (865-0455, mccami@covad.net) or Zo Mc Fee (864-3197, zomcfee@yahoo.net).

Pre-Kindergarten Enrollment for 2007-8
The John Muir School pre-Kindergarten class has limited openings for the next school year which starts in August. We are part of the Child Development Program of San Francisco Unified School District . We follow the school calendar, have a limit of 16 students and the class is taught by one teacher and an assistant teacher. It is a free half-day program, (in the morning with lunch provided) and we expect families to volunteer at least six hours a month. Since it is Pre-K, the children must turn four before December 2nd. We offer a typical preschool experience, which includes daily visits to Koshland Park, gardening at the community garden, field trips around the City, celebration of various holidays and special events, an emphasis on pre-literacy activities as well as social and emotional and physical development of the child.
If parents are interested, they should contact Mary Lee Kane at 241-6339 (classroom) or 241-6335 (John Muir School office) and set up a time to visit and get an application. Call now as there is limited enrollment. The last day of school is June 12th, and openings may be filled by then.
