Student Recognition

On Wednesday, April 11th, Mo’ Magic sponsored a recognition ceremony at John Muir Elementary School for fifth grade students in the area who achieved perfect attendance. The schools participating were John Muir, New Traditions, William Cobb, KIPP, Rosa Parks and Creative Arts Charter. In addition to the students and their families, the event was attended by community members and City officials.

Captain Dillon from Northern Station and Ross Mirkarimi, District 5 Supervisor, presented the certificates to the fifth graders. Jeff Adachi of the Public Defender’s Office and Camille Dawkins from the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services joined with Sheryl Davis from Mo’ Magic to present Community Builder Awards and Magical Youth Awards. The Buchanan YMCA catered the dinner following the ceremonies.

There were 250 to 300 people packed into the John Muir Auditorium for this event and it was all positive energy. The students clapped and cheered for each other and the audience joined them enthusiastically. It was an evening to feel good about our community and for the future of our community.
