Teachers Appreciation Day at John Muir

May 10th was Teachers Appreciation Day at John Muir Elementary School. The John Muir PTA provided bouquets in decorative mugs for all of the teachers and paraprofessionals. The arrangements were the handiwork of Madeline Behrens-Brigham and Michael Patton and funding for the activity was provided by the Lily Street Block Sale.

HVNA President Paul Olsen, Ammel Park Board Member Marie McCallum, and PTA Officers Richard Johnson, Michael Patton and Frances Neagley worked with Marta Madrigal, the parent liaison, to plan the event and deliver the flowers to the classrooms in the morning. By presenting each teacher and staff member with a token of appreciation in the classroom, we not only gave them our thanks; but we showed the youth in our community that the neighborhood appreciates those who work to prepare them for the future.

The Tzu Chi Foundation served a special lunch to the teachers, as well as artisticly decorating the break room. The students enthusiastically joined with the volunteers in thanking their teachers. It was a special experience for all the participants.
