Membership Passes Resolution on UC Extension
At the October meeting, members present overwhelming passed a resolution listing three objectives that are among those that must be met in order for the organization to support a development proposal of the UC Extension site. Over 60 people attended the meeting. The resolution passed after each attendee wishing to speak had had the opportunity to do so, with many speaking of their personal feelings regarding development on the site, which is currently zoned public, as it has been for 150 years.
A copy of the resolution is available here. Simply stated, the 3 objectives listed call for a larger amount of open space, appropriate parking controls, and adequate affordable and workforce housing. Hayes Valley has long been a model for inclusion, choice and diversity. If something is to be built on this important site, it is important for it to be truly integrated into the neighborhood and the resolution is an expression of items necessary for that integration to happen.
