Welcome to William!
Please note, as you read these pages, that we have a new graphic designer donating his services to the organization. William “Cricket” Ulrich has stepped forward to take over from long-time graphic artist Karen Parry, who has relocated to New York. William not only does graphics, but is also a decorative artist. You can see his work at www.azurecricket.com.
Please join us in welcoming his contributions to the neighborhood!
Open Space Community Workshops
Neighborhood Parks Council (NPC) is working with City agencies to conduct community workshops that will gather input on open space issues in San Francisco. That input will be used to inform an updated Open Space Framework, which will include a new 100-year vision document, a 25-year shorter-term prioritization plan, and finally a short-term action plan meant for implementation. NPC will be gathering input from all over the city, including in our neighborhood.
The workshop in our area will be held on February 18th, from 6-8pm at Ella Hill Hutch Community Center, 1050 McAllister Street. We hope to have you participate! There is also a bike/pedestrian focus group on January 28th that would be of interest to our neighborhood. More information is available at www.sfnpc.org
Hayes Valley Playground Renovation on Track
Trust for Public Land, which has partnered with the City to renovate Hayes Valley Playground, presented Phase 1 for Civic Design Review late in 2008. After discussions about the design and the concepts behind them, Phase 1 was unanimously approved. It was explained that the design is based around existing programs and allowing visibility to the playground. Changes since the last review included pulling the building away from the corner of the lot, lowering the roof on parts of the building, and creating a hedge on Linden. See www.tpl.org for more details.
