Community Grows

Formerly Hayes Valley Neighborhood Parks Group, Community Grows has wonderful news for the neighborhood. The following was excerpted from their newsletter:

We hope you like our new name! We’ve been working with our great Advisory Board for the past year doing a strategic plan and figuring out our future. Now that the Hayes Valley has five great parks with amazing stewards around them, we are passing the baton with our support. We are now focusing on the youth of the Western Addition, teaching gardening, cooking and green jobs training. We are finalizing our mission and working on our logo, tag-line, website, and brochure. If you are interested in helping us get up to speed, please contact us! In the meantime, we want to have a celebration in honor of the new name and all our great volunteers on Saturday, May 30th.

Thanks to everyone who wrote glowing reviews of us for GreatNonProfits. We were declared the winner in the small nonprofits category, as part of the Green Choice Awards 2009. We are honored to get this recognition, especially since it is based on the positive words you all wrote about us. Thank you!!

Congratulations to Barbara Wenger, Nora Brereton and all the hard working volunteers who continue to accomplish so much for the neighborhood.
