Neighborhood Baptist Church is a local community church seeking to aid in the advancement, enrichment, and edification of the residents of Hayes Valley and has been a pillar of the Hayes Valley community since 1945.

Pastor Lane Hawkins assumed responsibility of the ministry in 1998 and began to teach, transform, and lead the church in a new era of spiritual awareness with social responsibility to extend help to the community and to those in need.

The church cares about the surrounding community and is partnering with Community Partners United and Hayes Valley Neighborhood Association to sponsor the Second Annual Community Block Party on August 15, 2009, at 1pm on Buchanan Street between Hayes and Grove Streets. N eighborhood Baptist Church has weekly services geared toward building people and empowering the individual to reach their full potential, and takes health and wellness seriously. In a commitment to educate members and friends, it dedicates one Sunday a month to address diet and exercise needs of the congregation.

Neighborhood Baptist Church also has a ministry outreach at Laguna Honda Hospital every week. There is a faithful team of ministers and members committed to demonstrating love and concern for those hospitalized and sometimes forgotten. They also extend care to the elderly, the sick, those convalescing at home, and give support to widows and orphans.

The church is commonly referred to and known as “Neighborhood“. Its members echo and embody the love of God and the spirit of fellowship in the community. It’s a church that is friendly, comfortable, and welcoming to all residents of Hayes Valley. You are invited to visit at any time.
