Upcoming Meetings and Events
July meeting
The July meeting will focus on greening the neighborhood. Not so much through planting and caring for our parks, although that is a part of it, but through conservation and adaptation.
We’ll focus on water, garbage, recycling, and solar energy, and how we can save money and resources by making changes in our homes and businesses. Please also see the article on in this issue about a local green certified business.
We’ll also have information about the approaching National Night Out, sponsored in part by our Public Safety committee, and our neighborhood clean up.
Patricia’s Green Workday
July 18th is the next workday at Patricia’s Green, from 10am -1pm. While the City has been taking good care of the lawn area, and recently did some trimming, there remains work to be done! Get together with your neighbors, make new friends, and improve this well-used neighborhood resource. For more information, see the calendar listing.
Seed To Mouth
Seed-to-Mouth Cooking Classes are held every Thursday afternoon in July from 3-5 PM at Hayes Valley South Community Room, 403 Rose Street.
Everyone is welcome! This activity is sponsored by Community Grows, formerly Hayes Valley Neighborhood PARKS Group. For more information, please contact Barbara Wenger at
barbara@communitygrows.org or 415-431-8112.

Neighborhood Cleanup
Sponsored by Supervisor Mirkarimi and Department of Public Works, there will be a neighborhood clean up on August 8th from 9 AM to noon.
The event will be a District 5-wide clean up with 11 neighborhood and merchants organizations partici-pating! DPW will provide coffee and pastry for the morning and a lunch after the clean up.
There will also be a location (still to be determined) in D5 for the Gigantic 3, dumpsters for disposing anything and everything, including electronics. There will also be graffiti removal headed up by the neighborhood.
This is a great way to meet neighbors and help clean the community!
