Public Safety

Gail Baugh
safety@hayesvalleysf.org

Our main focus will be to come up with both short and long term solutions to crime and quality of life issues that affect our neighborhood. I have been working on crime and quality of life issues in the Hayes Valley area since 1995. The true solution to solving ongoing crime issues is to get all the parties involved in a problem to come up with a solution. My experience as being the Chairperson of the Northern District Police/Community Relations Forum since 2001 has given me valuable insight of the complex issues that foster crime. One of my main accomplishments was the establishment of a working committee that consisted of public officials, community members, housing developments, community based organizations, and merchants to find permanent solutions to ongoing crime issues. If this description fits you please join us at our regular meetings.

Business Relations

Jim Warshell
business@hayesvalleysf.org

A great benefit of our density and location is the number and diversity of our businesses that contribute mightily to the fabric of the neighborhood. We will focus on supporting our businesses and the benefits they bring to the Hayes Valley area.

Transportation and Planning

Jason Henderson
jhenders@sbcglobal.net

Positioned in a very important district of San Francisco both for its location and diversity, HVNA looks to the Planning & Transportation committee to tackle issues of traffic calming, pedestrian crosswalks and more. Co-chaired by one of HVNA's founders, Patricia Walkup, the public safety committee welcomes any and all participation.

Northern District Police/Community Relations Forums

We meet twice monthly to address police and safety issues in the Northern District which includes all of the H.V.N.A. boundaries. Each meeting covers community topics and attendees receive a report from the Captain on the prior month's criminal activities. These meetings are located at Northern Station, 1125 Fillmore (corner of Turk) in the Community Room.
